1948 Cracker Box boat
the name "Gohan Maru" with the big Flathead.
Retired in or around 1955 and sat in a barn ever since.
Recently discovered and restoration started ---
Boat is "100 percent complete"- except for the motor ~~~
*
*
RECENT DISCOVERY-- is that this boat ran with a '49 Merc Flathead.
More horsepower than a 59A block. Running a merc like this
boat meant you had the most powerful motor out there in the day.
Does anyone have any early racing pics from this time period?

"Gohan Maru" stood for the restaurant that the boat was built
for by the owner in '48. It means "Rice Bowl" and was located
in the Bakersfield area of southern Ca. The boat had 3 owners
and all 3 owners were friends of each other. I purchased the
boat from the 3rd owner who states that they were friends with
the orig owner in '48 when the boat was built. This is how we
know the boat is a 1948.

Century "Thunderbolt" boat
This is most certainly a very early "Thunderbolt". I would guess
this to be about 1931 as the angle of the steering would be an
indication of this. The dash board is beautiful on this boat too!

Century "Thunderbolt" boat
This Century "Thunderbolt" is about 1937. Very rare today and only
a few are known to exist. Replica's are made if one really wanted to
experience the joy of owning one of these early little racers.
I believe this boat to be "Chickie IV" as it is one of the only Thunderbolts
to have varnished sides. She's a beauty !!!
